Rotala Spikey

Give your aquascape a distinctive texture with Rotala Spikey! This attractive freshwater stem plant features narrow, sharply pointed leaves that create a dense, spiky appearance, adding depth and character to planted aquariums.

Also traded as Rotala rotundifolia 'Spikey', this unique variety is ideal for aquascapers who want something different from conventional green stem plants. Its fine foliage creates beautiful contrast against broad-leaved aquatic plants, making it an excellent choice for detailed nature-style and Dutch-style aquascapes.

Planting & Care Tips

Plant Rotala Spikey stems individually in suitable aquarium substrate, leaving enough space between stems for light penetration and healthy growth. Planting several stems together creates a fuller, more attractive display.

Provide suitable lighting, balanced nutrients and stable water conditions. CO₂ supplementation can encourage vigorous growth and denser foliage. Under stronger lighting, the plant may develop attractive pinkish tones at the growing tips.

Trim the stems regularly to maintain the desired height and encourage side shoots. Replant healthy cuttings to expand your plant group and create a dense, textured aquarium background.
